Artist Statement
Presently my work is in private collections in Southampton, New Canaan, Nantucket, Winter Park, Scottsdale, Sedona, Napa Valley, Palm Beach, Dallas, and Seattle among other cities. It has most recently shown in the Sedona Art Center and The Oregon Society of Artists and was recently chosen for The West Linn (Oregon) Library Exhibition featuring Michael Pollan's literary triumph The Omnivore's Dilemma. One of my paintings in the Animal Respect Collection won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 Lake Oswego Festival of Arts, the largest art show in the Northwest USA: of the 1,700 entries, only 20 Blue Ribbons were awarded... how 'bout that!
The Animal Respect Collection has taken me into the world of mixed media (acrylic and black pencil) to communicate my interests in respect for animals and specifically deal with the challenge of outdated and heartless ways society thinks of our farm animals in particular and all animals in general. Man does NOT have dominion over animals. You must see the website gallery! The paintings in the Animal Respect Collection are fun and meaningful to anyone who loves animals and doesn't like the way they are treated by industry, and/or is a vegan, vegetarian or veterinarian.
But wait, there's more! I recently added work to The Tropical Collection. Paintings in this collection may transfix your gaze and send your thoughts into the depths of the work. By the way, for each sale of a painting, I make a 10% contribution to one of many rain forest/conservation charities I am committed to. More to come, stay tuned.
OMG, The Cat Collection! I can't stay away from cats, or is it that THEY can't stay away from me? Cats are such interesting creatures and cat lovers know what I mean and know it's impossible to describe cats. They inspired me to do more paintings of my favorite blue cats. As of June, 2023, I am rebuilding this collection as almost all previous work has been sold. This collection is done with a sense of whimsy. I am a bit of a stray cat as I stray from my themes of animal respect and animal rights. I keep at it because they're fun to do and they are connecting with my fans.
